Getting My Toddler Ready For School (Morning Routine Tips)
As the title suggests, I am preparing my son to return to school on Tuesday. He goes on half days which is good for him. Gets him out of the house for a few hours and allows him to be around other kids while having fun. He has been out of school for 2 weeks healing from surgery. Now those two weeks have been tough. Now that his healing weeks are over he can go back to school.
Today, he ate his protein cinnamon Cheerios and had at least 2 cups of milk. He has also had one bottle of water today. That was only for breakfast. For lunch, he gets Mac n cheese which may be dealing with food burnout which is a real thing for Autistic kiddos. I always offer him different foods to eat. He always tells me no.
I am going to share my recipe for making homemade Mac and cheese. Start off with a medium pot, add water and a pinch of salt. Let the water boil. Once boiled add in the elbow pasta. Let that boil softly stirring occasionally so the noodles dont stick together. Once it gets to the consistency that they will eat, strain the noodles and start making the sauce. For the sauce add in milk, not too much, name brand velveeta block cheese and a small handful of shredded cheese. Stir it together to get a cheese sauce. Then combine the sauce and noodles together. Now you have a meal to feed your kiddo.
The story behind that meal is this: my son has always loved Mac n cheese. He went from loving the store brand box of Mac and cheese to loving the homemade stuff. It is also cheaper to go with grabbing all the materials then buying bulk of the box Mac n cheese. Also lasts longer depending on the batch size you make.
